All the people who the think this book is rubish are just too young to understand it yet. Tom Kelly is very clever and the book could get complicated if you are under the age of ten.
When I read the book I warmed to Danny straight away and loved his sence of humur. I do agree the ending may confuse some but it is well worth the read. Sat 28th Nov 2009

(This blog is going to be very short) This book is very boring, as I couldn't get the gist; but what I could get out of it is, that a boy called Danny plans to run away. He then takes his plan out. He gets scared and goes back home (well that’s what I think, because as I said, I couldn’t get the gist). Tue 1st Jul 2008

I haven't finished The thing with Finn yet, I am only up to page 87. However, so far I am very entertained and hooked.
Danny is a very interesting character. I think this because he has a interesting story behind his life and he includes humour and really relates to younger people in what he says and does.
When I do eventually read on, I will have many more opinions and points.
I give this book a well-deserved superb 10!

I’ve finished the book and I like it. A lot! All the humour and excitement blend in to make an almost perfect piece of writing.
There are so many words to describe it such as:
• Mind – blowing
• Hilarious
• And Emotional
There are some rude bits in it but in a way that makes you laugh so much like 1 laughing hyena then it says not laughing any more.
Even though the death of Finn was confusing I still like it.
There is so much to say about it but you would have to read it yourself – it’s MAGNIFICENT!!!

This book is heart rending. It has alot of humor and made me crack a smile every once in a while. i think this book is fantastic how it shows how people can get on in life when somthing terrible has happened to the family, for instance one of your loved ones. My favourite character is Danny, i feel so sorry for him. Sadly he has a sister named Angela, who is deaf, he used to have a brother named Finn, who meloncholthicly died. On a scale from 1 to 10 i would give this book a phonomenal 10. and thats my thoughts of this supendous book.

This book is heart rending. I think it's great because it shows how people cope and keep on living even though there loved ones are gone. I can relate to Danny and I feel his pain. He and his identical twin Finn were the best of friends and were always there for each other until the accident which makes Danny lose Finn forever. It shows his anger, sadness and utter confusion about his brother leaving him in this depressing time.
Danny goes on a quest to not only have time to recover from this ordeal but to find out... who he really is, how to deal with his lost brother and how to always remember his dear brother; Finn.
I love the P.B.T.M(potential brown trouser moments). This is a really funny book which always makes me feel something whether laughter with his 10p/5p's (farting) or his times when he remembers his brother Finn. The Thing With Finn is a book you will read from start to finish. Fri 20th Jun 2008

This book shows Danny's feelings and how his point of view is and what goes on in his life and in the house. It also describes his friends fully so it can paint a picture in your head when reading it. What pain and mysery is he going through and how will he stop it? Mon 16th Jun 2008

I think the Thing With Finn is a very sad story, the funny (i think was a bit rude) part was when Danny said that a beast bit some ones thingy off. it was kind of obvius that the people in the story would be doing things like 10p/5p . On the chapter False Teeth, it was very intresting to read because-you understand it it had loads of exicetment for me personaly.
The chapter big small dog poos was about Carki and her personality it shows that Carki is a very chatty and happy. I understood it well than the begining of the book.
Marbles made me want to find out what will happen next and chapter BOO made me get excited for nothing. It was so sad that Danny ran away and how Finn died, he drowed.
Overall, i think this is a sad, but a fantasic book for all people that are scared this could happen to someone ,or it has alread y happed to them.

Danny is a very immature person, for example: he wanted to get back at a stuffed otter by throwing a brick at the neighbours window whose name is Grundy.
Also in the front cover when there’s is three holes it reminds me back to the brick Finn threw through Grundy’s window just to get back at a stuffed otter. Also when the holes have light blue and dark blue in the background it reminded me of when Finn slipped and drowned and the dark blue looks like the water where he fell.

I have read the whole book. I think that the book is great! It's got bits of humour, emotions and mystery.
I felt at first the book was quite un- exciting and dull but now I think it’s is including more action along with other characters it has proved itself a good book! Especially when they mentioned ten p/ 5 p it made me fall off my chair laughing. I feel sometimes confused because of the jumping of the scenes but I manage to cope with it in the end.
My opinion on the ending is that I think that he Danny is really Finn but Finn has pretended to be
Danny because he wanted to feel like he was with him. So that is why he didn't talk for six weeks because his family and friends would know that it is him for real because they are different. It is very good book and very emotional although there are many different ways of thinking. Fri 13th Jun 2008

So far I don’t have any dislikes because of the humour, a mystery emerging and description, humour quote: 10 p/5 p which is when you are scared you squeeze your bum cheeks together, when that was mentioned I couldn’t help but laughing out loud.
The story is told in the 1st person by a boy called Danny who has two siblings: Finn and Angela and a mum and dad.
The ending really confussed/Puzzled me because the dad called Danny Finn and I had lots of thoughts circling my head.
1) Is Danny actually Finn?
2) If yes why is Finn pretending to be Danny?
I also found that in the first chapter and page Danny talks about a brick with tree holes and the front cover is the colour of the brick and has three holes and a reflection but the blurb hasn't, also lght blue looks like the sky in one reflection but the bootom one looks like the sea or a river which may be linked to Finn's death...

The Thing with Finn is a really confusing book. Because every chapter is about a different subject but it still carries on the story and that's really confusing. There are a lot of things that need inproving in this book.
Some of the things are:
- The plot
- The book needs more WOW WORDS
- The book needs to be more interesting
- The ending of a book is meant to be interesting but this one isn't so that is another thing that could be better aswell
Every character in the books has a different personality some of them are really wierd and have silly names.
Some of the characters are:
- Aeroplane Kev
- Bod
- Danny
- Angella
- Danny's Mum
- Danny's Dad
- Old Grundy
The book is about 2 twins Danny and Finn. Something happends to Finn.
The book has a lot of emotion and feeling in it so if you want a cry read this book.
The book discribes every character with a lot of detail.
Just because I don't like this book it dosent mean you won't because every one has a different opinion. Thu 5th Jun 2008

The thing with Finn is about when Finn's identical brother Danny goes missing. Finn and his friend Airplane Kev is helping Finn find his brother Danny. Furthermore Finn thought that it might have been a beast that took his brother Danny.

This book isn't my cup of tea, I found it very boring, their was no irony or excitment really and the plot was rubbish, the plot didn't flow properly like a proper story would. I think Tom Kelly (the author) should of read it to himself, because their are many things that I would change. E.g. The Characters, The Beginning ...
In the middle, the plot picked up then it flows but then when the dilema came, the plot didn't pick up again so then it became boring.
The things I liked about this book we're;
- The way that the chapters were short and they had really funny names and thats about all that I liked.
I wouldn't reccommend this book to anybody who doesn't like stories that are confusing and irriatble.

At the beginning, it is clear and understandable, but as it goes on the book just natters on about his feelings and emotions. So far, there isn't anything happening, but I'm not sure because I haven't reached the end yet. Fri 23rd May 2008

i like the thing with finn because of the funny charracters like airplane kev, he is hilarious, also in this wonderful book it shows us the feeling of mystery, at the beggining. Also its because of the funny parts, like the bits when airplane kev and danny tease the big dog, and airplane kev's mate is all being silly[he has a problem] saying '' 10 p 5p''[it means your butt is going '' 10 p 5 p lol], and that is why i like the thing with finn. I persoally believe that this book is confusing eventhough I've only read up to page 39. My favourite part is when danny threw athe brick with 3 holes in through the window. But I also think this book is a little bit boring. Thu 22nd May 2008

This book is kind of good but boring at the same time because there is nothing really interesting. But it was sad when Finn died, the reason why he died is because he slipped over the bridge then he died in the water it was really sad. There are some stuff that is not nice espiacially on page 21.
Thanks for reading my review about the book i have read. Thu 22nd May 2008

So far this book is quite boring, the beggining was good but after it started to ramble. The reason I first selected it is because it has a unique cover ....
Characters:
-Danny
-Finn
-Angela
-Dad
-Mum
The main character is Danny he is funny wacky but in a good.
Things I liked:
-The layout
-Characters
Things that could be better:
-The plot
-How the characters are behaving
The thing with this book is that I somtimes get lost in it as well as that there is a really big mystery I want to solve...
What happened to Finn??????

The thing with finn is a good book because, I really understand it and it is really easy to read - I like the way he thinks out loud and you hear his thoughts!. My favorite charactor so far is flat eys bod because he just nods at people and he's really hard to understand and understands airplane kev who loves talking about airplnes and gets mad if you talk about jets (only if it's bad stuff about them). It's really funny so far! Tue 20th May 2008

I haven't started reading this book yet but I like the fact that the cover looks like a brick and that is what the story is about based on the blurb! Tue 20th May 2008
