I love this book! It is excellent and very enjoyable. The story is about a woman who is actually a soceress whose name is Lady Larmona. She has a servant whose name is Gubble and has been working for her for a hundred years.Lady Larmona had a wonderful idea for a robe. She wanted ivy, skulls and spider silk on her soon to be robe.Lady Larmona checked her treasure box to see if she had any gold pieces left but there was none. Her servant Gubble had an idea that he knew his mistress would be proud of, which was Lady Larmona's ability to turn princes and princesses into frogs. In the end she got the amount of gold pieces she needed and got a new servant and a new robe! Thanks for reading my review.

I enjoyed the book. It was a step out of the genre i usaully read. I personaly believe thatthier should be other series of this book continuing from tjis book alone. This should deffinatly be an aim for the future. The discriptions in the book were imaginative and totaly out of this world. The effct it has on people (it makes you read alot) and if you have a book that can do that then it must of been very successful. The thing that is amazing is that the words create a very realistic detailed picture in your head. I also believe that this book can be read by a range of ages and abilitys. It can turn the most reluctant of readers confident and fluent. The author (vivian french) is a complete genius witha five year olds imagination. I know that it is successful becauseall of my class-mates read and enjoyed it. At first (when reading the blurb) i didnt believe it was fun or good, but after i read the first page my whole interpritastion on the book changed.

Lady Lomorna will stop at nothing untill she gets what she wants. but all does not go as planned due to the fact that her gold vanished when before, the treasure chest was illuminated with gold.

I have read all of the book and I don't think it is very impressive! This is why:

When I first looked at the book and read the blurb I was really hooked and wanted to read on but ,when I actually read it was getting worse. However, the humour and adventure in the story did make me get through the book a little more easily.

I thought that it was going to be a briiliant book because of the skulls and in my personal opinion I like spooky and scary stories so, it made me want to read it more but, once I finished it I thought it was quite a disappointment. As a result that's why I gave it 6/10.

Even though I am on chapter 27 I have found this book enjoyble to read. This is a fantastic book I like the humour in it such as the names like Gracie Gillipot and Gubble and the part when Gubbles head falls off. Also I enjoy the way the authour keeps changing the story which is sometimes anoying but good because you get hooked on to one story then it changes when you don't want it to, then you get hooked onto the next story. The other thing I enjoyed in this book so far is the the description of the tree Gracie Gillipot sleeps in because usually you would think that sleeping in a tree is uncomftable but the way the writer describes it makes me think that it is extremely fun and comftable. The only people I don't like are Mange and Foyce, I say this because Mange locks Gracie up in the cellar for being cheerful and I don't like Foyce because she calls Gracie a Slug most of the time and she is mean to Gracie. The Robe of Skulls

I think that this book is a thrilling read, although at first it was a little boring, as nothing much happened. But once you get to the 3rd chapter or so you really start understand the plot and its characters!

So far my favourite character is Gracie Gillypot.I like her because she comes across as strong and adventurous girl, who, because of her hard upbringing with her evil stepfather – Mange - is very independent. I think this because when Marlon takes her to see the ancient crones she is scared - but she manages to control herself and I think this really shows her sheer determination.

When I am reading, I really enjoy the way all the different characters stories are told in different chapters and finally they come together at the end.

Also I really like the twist when you finally find out that Foyce is a were woman. As other stories that I've read describe were womans actions are uncontrollable where Foyces are deliberate! As in Harry Potter Reamus Lupin is a were wolf, who cannot control his actions whereas Foyce goes out of her way to hurt the people around her!

The robe of skulls is a fairytale with a twist. It is hooking and interesting with thrills scattered across all the pages.

Despite this, at the beginning I was bored, because it clung with one character and had no commotion. On the other hand, once I read further, the plot began to unfold exposing new characters.

Out of ten I give this a well-deserved seven, because the ending really let the book down.

The robe of skulls is a fantasy or fairytale with a slight twist. It is hooking and interesting with many small thrills scattered across all the chapters.

Nevertheless, at the beginning I was quite bored, because it stayed at one character and had no excitement or commotion. However, once I had begun to read further. The plot began to unfold revealing new characters and how all the different characters stories started to merge into one.

My personal favourite character is, oddly, Gubble! I find he was entertaining, but strange. He has been treated badly by Lady Lamorna yet he still is an entertaining character.

Out of ten, I would give this book an eight, because I have read books better and worse than this particular book.

My favourite character called Gubble is a very silly, funny character for example: ‘Gubble you have the word of a prince’ ‘Gubble not need word Gubble need help.’ I really like gubble because very funny and actually very helpful.

The reason I give the robe of skulls eight out of ten is because the beginning drags on a bit. Also the end is not that great as I thought it would have a lot more impact on the reader

I think the Robe Of Skulls is quite a confusing book at the start, but after a while you realise the story line and find out how all the characters whos story is told in different chapters have come together and have to go on a mission to get Foyce and Lady Lamorna.

I am eager to read on to see whether Marcus and Gracie get all the royal princes turned back into humans and get them to the Ancient crones for the antidote.

My favourite character in this story is probably Gubble because he is really funny but dumb and gives weird suggestions. He says stuff like “Gubble Bites, Gubble bites hard!” plus he calls Lady Lamorna “Evilness” and when Lady Lamorna wants money and asks Gubble for a suggestion he says "Toast... and marmalade!"

It’s a very funny book and I like the twist when Foyce says that she is a were-woman and her mum was a werewolf because you gradually work it out because she has a good sense of hearing and smell, also can run very fast, plus i thouight were-wolves are not supposed to be beautiful like Foyce. I rate this book a 10 out of 10 because this is a really exciting and hooking book.

This book was an fantabitastic and a little confusing because it has lots of people speaking and u cant keep track of them.
sorceress lady Lamorna is set with her heart to get a new robe, she will stop at nothing to get what she wants!
Vivian French the author uses great vocabulary which helps in English quite a lot.
The front cover is excellent just by that gives u an idea of what the story is going to be like and the illustrations are superior to any I have seen so far.
Lady lamorna is a heartless witch who used black magic to turn people into frog and swapped them so they cant turn back.
Marlon helps a girl called Gracie Gillypot she is a good girl but she feels like a prisoner.

The robe of skulls is utterly fantastic! The cover makes the story look like something from Terry Pratchets disc wold, yet its more houmor than creepy fantasy. The two main characters, Lady Lamona and Gracie Gillypot are completely different. Lady Lamorna is an old, evil sorceress who of corse is the bad guy and then, theres Gracie who is bullies by her stepfather, he wont even let her smile! the plot is quite confusing because theres 3 settings which fuse together at the end to beat evil. Perfect for a reader with a froggy imagonation (hint).

10/10 brilliant! Thu 12th Jun 2008

This book is quite a boring book to me because it is really confusing. It has a different character every chapter which makes the book boring. I would rate this book 5/10 as it is not very good.

It is about a girl called Gracie Gillypot and her step-sister dosen't let her eat anything or talk to anyone. She feels like a prisoner. She meets a bat called Marlon and he helps her. She then meets more and more nice friends but it does not turn out to be nice for her step-sister. Tue 10th Jun 2008

I found the book The Robe Of Skulls very confusing because there was alot of main characters; it switched from one person two another, without fully explaining how it gets onto the next thing. I am not really a type for reading, because after about a chapter, if the book doesn't interest me, sometimes I just can't be bothered to carry on reading it. Either I don't like the book or it is just plain boring.

When I first got the book I thought that it would be brilliant, but is was ok. I like to read sometimes- most of the time i like:
comedy
scary &
I also like long books.

I would recommend this book to people who like books that are confusing.

This was not one of the best books I have read. Thu 5th Jun 2008

this book is about an evil women and her name is Lady Lamorna.Lady lamorna is the evil queen and she has a slave named
gubble. In chapter 2 Lady Lamorna and gubble deside to take over every castle in the land.
The thing i dont like in his book is that in every chapter theres is a new character introduced.
Another character is Gracie Gillypot and she gets thrown in the cellar
by her step sister. There is also another character i would like to tell you about whose name is Marlon and he is a
prince of a castle. He doesnt do his punishment so he pays the price... Thu 5th Jun 2008

This book was an interesting story and slightly confusing because it has lots of characters and its hard to follow as in each chapter it goes back to a different character. The Robe Of Skulls got my attention at chapter three because that’s when it gets interesting, a girl called Gracie is locked away but who will help her be free … Also lady Lamorna is set with her heart to get a new robe, she will stop at nothing to get what she wants!
The author Vivian French uses interesting words that grab your attention but it was hard to under stand.
I would like to mention that this story is great for older readers because they would have had the Experiance of harder words witch will make it easer for them to understand. I really enjoyed this book but as I said it was confusing so I rated it 8 out of 10.

Thank you for the books you gave us I really am reading more witch is helping me with my writing. Thanks a bunch.

I think the Robe of Skulls is quite a good book. The front cover is a bit boring although once you have read the book, it will become clear what the cover means.
It's about an evil sorceress called Lady Larmorna who only thinks about herself. She longs for a new robe with skulls and spider-web embroydery on it, although she finds that she does not have enough money to buy it! So she and her servant (Gubble) put together a cunning plan, only to fail miserably.
The book is about how she and Gubble find enough money to buy the Robe of Skulls.

My favourite character is Prince Marcus. He is a prince, and although has a big brother, does not act like a prince. His suit is always creased by the end of the day, and he is always in trouble!!! He is naughty and mischevious and want's to adventure out of his fathers boundries. Tue 3rd Jun 2008

I really enjoyed reading this book it was really great to read! I really enjoyed the part where there is a talking bat, although it has mysterious characters, I would lo to read this book. when we were lining up to get our books I wanted to get 'London eye mystery' but there were no more left, so i was like oh no! What book do I get? The only books left were 'counting on Leroy & the robes of skull' so i thought why not get this one because I liked the cover the way Lady Lamorna is posing so this made me think it might be a girly book. If i was in Vivian French’s position my mind would be completely blank. But i think this writer has a really good sense of imagination! I really liked all the characters especially Lady Lamorna, the way she thinks she knows everything and when she is so bossy and arrogant, also i liked Gracie Gillypot, the way she acts so innocent and you can’t forget Foyce, the spoilt brat and of course Gubble, he tries to act so pathetic but if he just used his mind properly instead of day-draeming he coul have got on with his life, but Oh well! Anyway i would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read fantasy! It is great to read, so when you get the chance to read it grab it and dive in!
