This is quite a good book, bit great for dog lovers. The story line is good but a bit unrealistic as a dog could never save anyone from a fire. This book would be great for younger readers I think because the boy in it is more that age and also the storyline is easy to follow. Sat 11th Jul 2009

A brilliant book about who you never treat a whole race just by how some of them behave and act. I believe that author was not only talking about stereo typing dogs but also about racism and discrimination. Slow to get going but once you get past the begging and begin to understand mckenzie and cash you'll be gripped. Mon 29th Jun 2009

This was a perfect book. So upsetting and heart-wrenching. I had to read it twice to understand how a father can be so cruel to a little dog. And a boy. The descrpition was amazing. I could imagine the dogs struggle alone and the boy's pain. I recommend for everybody to read this book. I actually cried now its time for you to as well. Wed 24th Jun 2009

dog lost
Main characters:
Mackenzie (owner of dog)
Dad
cash (dog and is a pittbull )
kid (mackenzies brother)
The story
At first he gets the dog and i thought that was good as he had someone to share all of he's serets with. But then the dog starts to get in the way and the dad doen't like it and where the dad was being so horrible to cash the dog turns against him and he dont like it so he throws the dog out (i thought sorry for the dog as I love dogs). He lives in the street for a while and and gets used to it. While Mackenzie is still worrying about cash ,cash was saving people and being a hero. Then cash goes looking for mackenzie and gets scared and jumps in the sewage . Suddenly Mackenzie sees him and puts hes belt around cash and pulls him out and then they live happily ever after .
I think this book should win because it is very passionate.
I will give it a 10/10 Wed 24th Jun 2009

Blurb and cover: I thought that the front cover and blurb were both really effective because the picture on the front suited the big and bold title that reads: 'Dog Lost'. There is also the colour of blue which is chosen very well because blue is a colour of sadness. Characters: -Cash, the dog of Mackenzie. -Mackenzie, the little boy who is the owner of Cash. -Kid, Mackenzie's stepbrother. -James, the stepfather of Mackenzie. Mackenzie was my favourite because I thought he was funny because he fed Cash rice crispies for breakfast! The story: I thought that this story was very emotional and sad because I have a dog myself and if he was thrown out I would be horrified and I know I shouldn't judge a book by it's cover but when I saw it I knew it was going to be really sad from the look of it. I think you'll love this book if you read it- just like me! Fri 19th Jun 2009

I think that this book is really good because you not only see the point of view on humans but on dogs too. I recommend this book to animal or dog lovers. This is a moral to treat your dogs with respect, and it proves of true love, if you really like somthing you wouldn't stop giving up. This book is an example of how dogs and dangerous dogs are treated. In some countrys, people abuse them and make them do thing that dogs are not supposed to do. I rated this a ten because it has a real meaning to it. Thu 18th Jun 2009

I think that this book is utterly phenomenal! The story is so touching and warm hearted that I felt in every page something very special about this book. It is soothing and quite heartbreaking. I loved it from the beginning to the end. It sent chills through my spine. It shows the connection between Mackenzie and Cash. They are the best of friends and exactly what Mackenzie needs. A friend. Alot of things happen to Cash, when she is kicked out by Mackenzie's cruel father. From desperately seeking food out of trashcans to being captured to fight by bad people, and she survives it all. But, apart from all of that, I loved it when Mackenzie finds Cash. I would love to read this book again. Thu 18th Jun 2009

I love this book. It was a sad story for most of the way. Mackenzie, the boy that owned the dog, loved her very much, but his dad hated the dog. However, it was a present from someone for mackenzie. Sadly, his dad took the dog away and put her in the dump. Cash, the dog, was very much alone.
Cash got used to being in the dump. She hunted food but winter was hard. She ate scraps.
Every night Cash went to the train that came at 11 o'clock on time. There was a girl, Abi, that loved the dog. cash always got a sandwich from Abi. that was a nice part of the story. Mrs Brody always saw the dog at the train. She then always put bacon on her doorstep for the dog.
Cash became a hero for saving mrs Brody from a fire in her house. And, she also saved loads of people in the train because a car was on the train tracks.
Mackenzie found his dog and loved her as much as he always did.
I am so happy that Mackenzie found Cash. also, a boy called Kid (Mackenzie's brother) came back and said that, Mackenzie could come and live with him. Basically, the story had a happy ending.
This book should win, because it's really good and sweet. That's why i gave it 10/10. Thanks !!!! Thu 18th Jun 2009

Well the book starts with a boy called Makcenzie who is cute and never done nothing wrong. But one day when his dad brings home a puppy pitball and Mackenzie falls in love with the puppy. But just then when Mackenzie's dad chucks cash (Puppy) out in the middle of the town. Mackenzie would never ever forgive his dad!! Then when cash becomes a hero and helps people when they are in trouble and when they say pitballs were band on the news but when they find out that it is a pitball that is a hero they say pitballs are not band no more. This bit made me feel so happy. But then Mackenzie realises that it is cash and goes looking for him but Cash gets scared and jumps into the sewage. Mackenzie puts his belt round Cash's neck and tryed to drag him out but he couldnt (it mad me scared) Mackenzie gets help off the police man and pulls him out and then they both go and live with kid (Mackenzie's brother) They never ever see there dad again .
Favourite parts
One of my favourite parts were when cash saved the lady out of the fire. I wanted to cry at this part. It was like cash new what was going on.
recomendations
I think this book is apsalutly fantastic. But if you are a dog lover the start is sad and the middle. But at the end it is so happy you would have a big smile on your face like i did.
Thank you for reading my review. Thu 18th Jun 2009

This book is really good and if anyone sawthis book on the shelf they dhould read it and find out what happens.
The cover makes the reader feel sorry for the dog and Micheal Morpurgo's comment is very strong, the blurb is also strong too especially that last part 'will she ever find her boy again?'
Mackenzie loves cash to bits but is distraught when his dad takes her away.
Cash she listens to Mackenzie but sometimes she accidently gets in Mackenzie's fathers way.
The story line is very good.I feel really sorry for Cash because she keeps getting kicked by Mackenzie's dad and when Mackenzie is distraught he dosen't think straight in class because he is scared if cash dead or alive.
Overall this book is emotional and is very good book anto read. Wed 17th Jun 2009

Dog Lost review: By Sam Dog Lost... What should I say about this book? It was full of mixed emotions. Sometimes happy, sometimes so sad you could cry. Sometimes I liked reading the book but sometimes I didn't. A very emotional book. The story starts off with a young boy called Mackenzie getting a new dog called Cash. A Pit bull. But this Pit bull was no ordinary pit bull; this was the kindest pit bull in the world. But the wonder only lasts until to Mackenzie’s dad takes Cash out of town and leaves him there in the wilderness. Now Mackenzie is on a wild search to reunite with his lost pup. Over all I’m not sure whether I liked this book. The fact that the Cash keeps getting kicked around makes me sad. I always get the creeps when Cash starts getting rowdy and dangerous. I think that this book contains a tad to much animal cruelty. For animal lovers, I don’t think you should read this book. For others, I think you’ll like it. It is a tough book. Rating in my opinion: 6/10 Wed 17th Jun 2009

Dog lost
In the book there are many characters
The Characters:
Mackenzie: Cash's Owner
Cash: Warm-wearted heroic pitbull
Dean: Money loving, cold hearted child
Kid: Mackenzie's big brother
Officer: Always on duty and ready to help
Mackenzie's Dad: Mean and often drunk or drinking
The story
In dog lost Mackenzie's dad purchaces a pitbull and names it Cash. Mackenzie loves Cash but it constantly aggravates his father. Cash did this by urinating inside his house and once even hbit Mackenzie's dad while trying to defend herself; so despite Mackenzie's Begging his dad threw the dog out onto the streets. At this point I was quite sympathetic towards the lonely dog and Mackenzie the distraught and heart-broken( ex-)owner. Also I thought Cash was extremly clever because she soon adjusted to conditions unbearable for most humans. She avoided a dog fight and escaped a dog fight arena. She could have been badly injured or died. But the part about dean and his uncle catching Cash went on for too long and got quite confusing. But the ending was quite saytisfiying because pitbulls were not banned as long as they had a muzzle on.
My favourite part was when Cash bit Mackenzie's dad ( he deserved it for his behavior. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a sad, touching story.

I think that this is a very fun and exciting book and also weird because it explores an unusual relationship between Mackenzie and his dog, Cash. I also like the book because it’s adventurous as Cash finds himself a kind and thoughtful owner to take care of him. But I must say that it wasn’t very nice for Mackenzie’s dad to throw Cash out of the house, but lucky Cash found his way back, with the help of P.C Dean and a girl called Abby. I really like this book and I recommend that who ever likes dogs or adventures this is the book for you. So I’ll give it 9 out of 10 because it’s great!!!! Wed 17th Jun 2009

Dog lost is a very sad book about a pitball called Cash that gets abandoned by Mackenzies dad who is also a drunk that is mostly at the pub getting drunk. After Cash is abandoned he strangely finds two other people that care for him,the first one called Abi who feeds him peanut butter sandwiches and the second one who leaves her left over bacon sarnies out on the back door step.
the main characters are P.C.Dean - the police officer that goes to check up on Mrs.Brody
Mackenzie - Cashes original owner
Abi - a very sick girl that feeds Cash peanut butter sandwiches
Mrs.Brody - the old lady that Cash saves from a burning house
The Father of Mackenzie - the one that dumps Cash
this book opens your eyes to animal abuse and how severe it really is,but the reason i gave this book a 9 and not a 10 is because the length let it down.

'Dog Lost' is a brilliantly moving book about, a one of a kind, Pit Bull called Cash. Characters include a 12 year old boy called Mackenzie, his Dad, a horrible gambler, named James O’Rourke and a student called Abi Winters, with various problems around her internal organs, who has to travel by train every day to the hospital. There is also a frail old woman called Mrs.Brody and a local community Police Officer called PC Dean. All these characters paths cross when Mackenzie’s dog Cash gets duped by James O’Rourke. This is a wonderful book for anyone who likes animals, action and adventure. Tue 16th Jun 2009

The book I am reading is Dog Lost it is a very sad book but also great, the part at the beginning is great when it says Mackenzie the little boy and the dog Cash wakes up nose to nose with each other I thought that was so sweet but when you get into the book it gets a bit upsetting because Mackenzie’s dad kicks Cash the dog into the belly and chucks him out of the house and she gets lost. I haven't finished the book yet but at the moment.
This amazing book is sending out a message and the message is that love is something more then just something you say it’s more. And friend ship can by with any one you want even a teddy bear. The friend ship that they have is love.

Cash gets captured and has been taken away to a dog fighting tournement, where she has to fight a partculaly ugly looking dog, but luckily escaps. A young girl called Abby who is very ill and thin comes home on the train everyday from the hospital, and has seen Cash. S o she decides to through her sandwich out the window and Cash learns to know when the train is comeing. An old lady called Miss Brody also sees the dog and decides to leave a piece of meat out for her every night. But one day Miss Brody was boiling a kettel in her kitchen and the old wire heats up and Miss Brody goes back to the news in the other room and being old she doesn't smell the smoke and when she goes back into the kitchen her lungs shut down and Abby sees the smoke and calls 999. Cash smells sothing wierd, so she comes out to investigate and manages to drag her out. P.C Dean the local policeman also comes but Cash runs off and P.C Dean just gets a glimps of the pit bull. Mackenzie sets out to find Cash and when he does find her she is helping a teenager who tried to capture her, but fell down a hole in the floor which has ice cold water at the bottom, in the old wear house where Cash is hidding and P.C Dean , Mackenzie
and Mackenzie 's teacher help drag the teenager out, but then Cash is left struggling for her life and Mackenzie climbs down the ladder into the water and plunges into the freeeeeezing water and pushes Cash up. When Mackenzie is driven home he sees his half brother kid who ran away from home standing on the door mat waiting to greet them. Mackenzie is reuntied with Cash and goes to live withe Kid.
My favourite part in the book was when Mackenzie got Cash and When he goes to live with Kid, because it is the happiest parts in the book and I love happy books. This book is on of the best books in the world and I would rate it 10/10. It is probably best for ages 10 upwards. Mon 25th May 2009

He gives it to Mackenzie who looks after him. One day Cash, the pit bull puppy annoys Mackenzie’s father. Mackenzie's father puts Cash in the boot of his car and dumps Cash. While Cash is abandoned he performs 3 miracles. He saves a boy from drowning, stops a train from crashing and saves an old woman from a fire. Dog Lost,
A great name for a book, totally draws you into it. I was hooked into this fabulas read as soon as I read the first page. Cash seems like a really nice friendly dog and the way page 44 is written. I love the way Ingrid Lee shows the anger that Mackenzies dad got when the dog let out only a slight grow.
You could really imagine the dump that Cash was brought to and the taulpin he slept under. My favourite part of the story has got to be when Cash runs away with the cat when he is being captive by the "Dog Fighters".
I found the ending a bit cheesy and it really didn't give you enough information about the deep pit they were in. It was also slightly strange how Mackenzie managed to pull up a massive pit bull terrier out of water. I also didn't really like the ending as I really wanted to find out what happened with Cash and Pc Deans dog when it walked down the alley way outside Mackenzies house but it was quite sweet when Kid (Mackenzie's brother) came back, as he left home.
The ending was the only reason why i didn't give this book a 10/10 I really enjoyed it and might decide to read another book that Ingrid Lee has written. Thu 14th May 2009

Dog Lost Author: Ingrid Lee The main character is called Mackenzie who is 11 years old and his father’s name is James O’Rourke. He has a girlfriend called Jane, his wife had died some years before because of a disease. They live at 269 Chester Street. Cash is Mackenzie's pit-bull who used to be a stray dog who Mackenzie bought into his home. I am not so much into dogs but I really fell sorry for Cash especially from the way Mackenzie’s father treated him which included, stepping on Cash’s stomach and kicking him into the wall. I personally think that if you’re going to treat a dog like that then why bring her into your house .To me this book is very sad in the beginning but happily it gets better. The book also shows how the Dog (Cash) and Mackenzie get along together well and that everyone has feelings. The book also says that ‘‘Mackenzie and Cash got on together like a house on fire. Dog Lost by Ingrid Lee This book is great, I really enjoyed Dog Lost. Mackenzie’s father buys a puppy and calls it Cash. Now if Mackenzie was bored he could play with Cash. At first Cash kept on going in the same place over and over again, under the dining table. The book has good moments and some sad moments. I wanted to keep reading to see what happened in the end. I also liked the book because I like dogs. Out of 10 I will give it 10. Reiss Wed 13th May 2009

I loved this book, I thought it was marvellous because it was based on true stories of how people use pit balls and other dogs to fight and they get money from it and that everyone thinks that pit balls are bad dogs and should be banned when really its all the owners fault for making them be that way.
I also liked the way Ingred Lee says "She lost her boy" and not "he lost his dog" because shes making it sound that the dog as feelings too it doesn't want to be bad and it has a mind of its own. Pus I thought it was good making Cash the mysterious wonder dog that helped the old lady, the teenagers and Darren, I thought it was a good way to build tension to the book.
Overall this book was a great read the best yet. I recommend that everyone reads it. FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!! =] Tue 12th May 2009

This book is about a boy called Mackenzie and his dog called Cash. Mackenzie's father is really mean and chucks Cash (the dog) away to live homeless. However, he saves people and becomes famous (Yes, I'm talking about the dog!) then reunites with Mackenzie, the owner. I really liked this book because it shows not all pitballs are death frightning! (I'm scared of Pitballs!) Furthermore, not all books have a wonder dog in it and the ending is just sooo good! Tue 12th May 2009

I thought Dog Lost was a sad book. I didn’t like the story line much because I like animals and it's upsetting to hear what happened to Cash. It was really cruel of his owner’s dad to abandon him. I feel sorry for McKenzie because Cash was special to him. I liked Cash and McKenzie mostly because they were caring and loving characters. I would not recommend this to animal lovers because of how upsetting it is. Tue 12th May 2009

This book is very good and interesting, because it shows a dogs perspective on things. Also the main character(Cash- The Dog)
is a pitbull, and most people think of them being bad misbehaved dogs, but they are not!
Cash saved a womans life from a fire.
In conclusion this book is a very sophisticated, but very interesting book. Tue 12th May 2009

I personally found this book amazing! It gave me a new angle on my view of most dogs, as before I extremely hated dogs for many reasons such as dogs chasing innocent cats, dog’s poo on the streets and dogs barking out loud. But now I find them loyal and trustworthy as some dogs can save people’s lives.
This book is about a puppy pit bull who nobody wants as the council considers a pit bull ban and creates a growing hate on pit bulls. She comes as a shivering wet bundle and arrives in the life of a twelve-year old boy called Mackenzie who later names the puppy Cash. And from that moment, boy and dog share a love neither has ever known before. But when Cash is kicked out by the wrath of Mackenzie’s father, she finds herself lost! And alone in a cruel world; a dog lost.
This book was written by Ingrid Lee who as a child loved reading lots of fairy tales and animal stories; her inspiration struck for writing this book was when a couple of years ago. A cry to ban pit bull terriers hit her home province of Ontario and strangely, she came home to just such a dog, standing in her front hall, legs braced and staring her down with a low growl in its throat. She didn’t want the terrifying dog but her son persuaded her to keep it and now the dog is an important member of the family, which gave her a new topic written in this book. Fri 8th May 2009

I really enjoyed reading the book and found it really interesting how the dog has feeling as well as a human being. I’ve always been scared of dogs since I can remember and this book really changed my view of how I look at them now.
In some parts I really felt for the dog and could picture what was happening like a film. I would definitely recommend this great book to any child who just wants to hang out and read a good book.

This book is about a dog and a boy who make a very strong relationship as friends, they go to the park together, and greet each other with a warm welcome everytime the boy (Mackenzie comes back from school) But there was always one problem with there relationship, Cash (the dog) was a pitbull and there was going to be a pitbull ban in the area meaning Mackenzie couldn't have cash for much longer, but one day when Mackenzies agressive dad lashes out at him, cash doesn't like it and decides to get agressive too, which made Mackenzies dad boot cash in the stomach, and then throw him in a rubbish heap! This relationship was broken by Mackenzies dad but soon finds away to mend. Mon 4th May 2009

I enjoyed reading Dog Lost because the author really created a picture in your mind. She used a lot of similies, and descriptive words, which helped to feel the characters emotions. However, at the beginning I thought the book was a bit tedious, and not that interesting. But futher on in the story, I just couldn’t put down the book. I wanted to just keep reading and reading, page after page. Sun 3rd May 2009

This book is actually not quite as bad as I thought it would be. It has it's touching moments, and I like the fact it's about a real thing that happened, and gives an opinion about it. Banning all pit-bulls was a cruel thing to do, and this book shows you just how much so. Although it was clumsily written, and was one of those books where the main boy (MacKenzie)'s brother (Kid) just HAPPENS to be going out with the same girl who helped MacKenzie's pit-bull (Cash) when she was a stray with nowhere to go, you can bear it for the story does have a plotline that is slightly interesting. Try it if you want... but only if there are no other decent books anywhere near you. Fri 1st May 2009

Dog lost is a gripping book that sadened me greatly. It is about a boy named mackenzie and the compassionate relationship with his bulldog named cash.
Cash is a calm dog but can have his moments. Once in the storyCash got in the way of mackenzies father who is a drunkerd and he got extremely angry and stuffed him in the boot of his car and then left him in the middle of nowhere !!!!!!!!!
Since then mackenzie went on a long and dangerous journey to find him again.
my favourite part of the story is when Cash was found by his loving owner Mackenzie . Tue 28th Apr 2009

Dog Lost by Ingrid Lee is a heart touching book about a little boy who lost his dog and while the boy - Mackenzie - is searching for Cash - the dog. Cash has a thrilling adventure in the mist of trying to get back to Mackenzie. I absolutely adored the book & loved the wonderful adventure that Cash & Mackenzie went through just to find each other. My favourite character is Mackenzie because he cares a lot about his dog & he is a funny character.
This is the only book I have read so far & I would give this book seven & a half out of ten. I will recommend this book because it is a great story & I love books that have a happy ending. You wouldn’t want to stop reading it!

Dog Lost is a good book because it makes you feel something rather than just reading it for the sake of reading. This book is about a boy called Mackenzie when his dad gets him a dog called Cash. If you were to read this book you will feel sorry for the dog and Mackenzie because later on in the story Mackenzie’s dad kicked the pit bull dog out of his house. I will recommend this book to people aged 9-25 so at least they will learn a lesson from this and hopefully take more care of their pets. Mon 27th Apr 2009
